I’m Tyler, the founder of Upfront Carpentry.
When I was 18, I enrolled in a level one carpentry program with a simple goal, learn how to build my own home. I figured if I could understand how a house comes together, I’d always have something solid to stand on. That one decision turned into a passion I didn’t expect.
From there, I dove into commercial construction, concrete forming, civil works, heavy machinery, steel, structure, systems. I spent a fewyears learning how big jobs run, how to stay on schedule, how to manage complexity. I earned my Red Seal, but I didn’t stop there. I wanted to build something of my own. So I did.
Upfront Carpentry started with small decks, window replacements whatever came our way. We took every job seriously and gave every project our all. From that hustle came opportunity: custom homes, church renovations, golf course additions, high-end outdoor living spaces, whole house renovations and now we’re five years in, with a team of skilled carpenters who love building as much as I do.
I’ve earned certificates in Construction Technologies, Construction Budgeting, Business Management, Construction Legal Procedures and the Understanding of the BC Building Code. I believe clients deserve more than just craftsmanship. They deserve clarity, structure, and a Contractor who cares and understands every aspect of the industry.
We’ve built our systems around that belief. Every project runs through our step-by-step process, complete with project management software, cost-coded labour tracking, and a proven checklist. We don’t leave details to chance. We plan them into the process.
When I’m not on site, I’m golfing, fishing, snowboarding, in the mountains with my friends or spending time with my family. I’m a churchgoer, a traveler, and a fan of good conversations over a cold beer. I believe in doing things the right way with people you respect, and in building projects that stand the test of time and tell a story.
